Terms of use
Effective date: 2 October 2026
These terms apply when you use the Tallyproof website at https://tallyproof.pages.dev, including the free converter, Tallyproof Pro and the Catch-up Pass. Tallyproof is run by an individual developer (a sole trader) based in Australia. “Tallyproof”, “we” and “us” mean that operator. “You” means the person using the service, or the business they use it for.
By using Tallyproof you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
1. What Tallyproof does
Tallyproof converts text-based PDF bank and credit card statements into CSV and other file formats. The conversion runs in your browser; your files are not uploaded to us. Tallyproof checks each extracted transaction against the running balance printed on the statement, or, where a statement has no running balance, checks that the opening balance plus all transactions equals the closing balance. Rows or statements that do not reconcile are flagged.
Tallyproof does not support scanned (image-only) PDFs.
2. You must check the output
Tallyproof reads statements automatically, using layout detection. Statements vary a lot, and automatic extraction can be wrong. The balance check catches many errors, but not all of them. For example, it does not check that dates or descriptions were read correctly, and the whole-statement check (used when there is no running balance) can show that a total is wrong without showing which row caused it.
Before you import, file or rely on any output, you must review it against the original statement, and in particular every row or statement that Tallyproof flags. You are responsible for the records you create from Tallyproof’s output.
3. Not financial, accounting or tax advice
Tallyproof is a file conversion tool. Nothing on the website, in the output or in our guides is financial, accounting, tax or legal advice. If you need advice about your records or obligations, speak to a qualified professional such as a registered tax agent, bookkeeper or accountant.
4. Free use
You can use the free converter without an account. Free use covers converting one statement at a time to CSV (generic CSV, Xero CSV or QuickBooks Online CSV). We may change, limit or stop free features at any time, but any change will not affect files you have already converted.
5. Tallyproof Pro and the Catch-up Pass
What you get. Tallyproof Pro (US$9 per month or US$69 per year) and the Catch-up Pass (US$19, one-off, giving 30 days of Pro) unlock the Pro features described on the pricing page, which currently include converting many statements at once and merging them into one file, and exporting OFX and QIF files.
Payment and merchant of record. Purchases are processed by Polar (polar.sh), which acts as the merchant of record. Polar’s checkout buyer terms (https://polar.sh/legal/checkout-buyer-terms) apply to the payment itself, including taxes, billing and subscription renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled; you can cancel at any time through the link in your Polar receipt or customer portal, and Pro stays active until the end of the period you have paid for. The Catch-up Pass does not renew.
Licence. When you buy, you receive a licence key. We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Pro features with that key, for your own personal use or for the internal use of your business (including bookkeeping work you do for your clients), for as long as your subscription or pass is active. You must not share, publish or resell your licence key, or let people outside your business use it. We may disable a key that has been shared publicly or obtained by fraud.
Refunds. If you are not happy with Pro or the Catch-up Pass, you can ask for a full refund within 14 days of your purchase, for any reason. Email hello.campsitestudio@gmail.com with your order details, and the refund will be issued through Polar to your original payment method. For annual subscriptions, the 14 days run from the first payment and from each renewal payment. This does not limit any rights you have under the law (see section 8).
Price changes. We may change prices for new purchases. If we change the price of an existing subscription, we will tell you before the change applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
6. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use Tallyproof to process statements you have no right to handle;
- try to disrupt, overload or attack the website or its hosting;
- try to get around the licence check to use Pro features without a valid licence key;
- use Tallyproof for anything unlawful, including fraud or creating false financial records.
7. Our code and name
Tallyproof’s software, website content and name belong to us. These terms cover the hosted service at https://tallyproof.pages.dev and Pro licence keys sold through Polar. You may use the service as described in these terms, but you may not copy, resell or redistribute the software or present it as your own.
8. Your rights under consumer law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, that you have under the Australian Consumer Law or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded, including the statutory rights of consumers in the United Kingdom and the European Union. Where the law allows us to limit our liability for a failure to meet a consumer guarantee, our liability is limited, at our option, to supplying the services again or paying the cost of having them supplied again.
Sections 9 and 10 apply only to the extent the law allows.
9. The service is provided as is
Subject to section 8, Tallyproof is provided “as is” and “as available”. We do not promise that it will convert every statement, that the output will be free of errors, that it will work with any particular bank or statement layout, or that the website will always be available. Tallyproof does not support scanned PDFs, and there is currently no list of officially supported banks.
10. Limitation of liability
Subject to section 8:
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data or business opportunity, or for penalties, fines or interest charged by a tax authority, arising from your use of Tallyproof or its output;
- our total liability to you for all claims relating to Tallyproof is limited to the total amount you paid us for Tallyproof in the 12 months before the event that gave rise to the claim. If you have only used the free service, that amount is zero.
11. Privacy
Our privacy policy explains what information is and is not collected. In short, your statements never leave your device.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a change materially affects paying customers, we will give notice on the website before it takes effect. Continuing to use Tallyproof after a change means you accept the updated terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and you and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts. If you are a consumer living in another country, this does not take away the protection of any mandatory laws of your country of residence.
